NSW rules out Clarke comeback .

While Michael Clarke still ponders a KFC Big Bash League comeback, Cricket NSW has confirmed the former Australia captain will not be seen in sky blue this summer.

Clarke has hinted at possibly returning to top flight cricket this summer in the BBL after walking out on his contract with the Melbourne Stars last year in the wake of his international retirement.

But there was also talk of the 35-year-old potentially suiting up for NSW for their defence of the Matador BBQs One-Day Cup this summer.

Cricket NSW confirmed in May they had spoken to Clarke about a return for the Blues, but the state association has confirmed the prolific right-hander will be not be part of the Blues' plans for 2016-17 in any format.

"Michael has decided against returning to elite cricket with the NSW Blues," a Cricket NSW spokesman told News Corp.

It's reported Clarke, who has not played for NSW since November 2013, would not be able to commit to the four-month Blues pre-season due to his business demands.

Sydney Thunder back to the future to replace Jacques Kallis .

The Sydney Thunder's KFC Big Bash League title defence could be bolstered by the return of two international superstars this summer. While the reigning BBL champions are tight-lipped on who exactly will fill their two overseas slots this summer, Thunder general manager Nick Cummins confirmed on social media this week that both spots had been filled for BBL|06. West Indies star Andre Russell's success in his debut season in lime green makes him a 'must sign', and the Thunder will have been desperate to beat off rival BBL clubs to ensure his return, while England one-day captain Eoin Morgan also looms as a prime target for the Thunder. Russell – whose seemingly golden touch as a Twenty20 gun for hire has seen him involved in title wins in domestic T20 tournaments in Bangladesh and Pakistan as well as the Windies' World T20 triumph – finished the season as the top-ranked allrounder in the official BBL rankings, snaring 16 wickets and managing the highest strike rate (186.86) of any batsman who played more than two innings. Last month, Cummins said the club would look for a player with a lot of Indian Premier League experience to fill the gaps left by retired skipper Mike Hussey and South Africa legend Jacques Kallis, who appears to have made the transition to life as a coach after a stint as Kolkata mentor in the IPL. With former Australia allrounder Shane Watson already on their list, the Thunder's top priority is strengthening their batting line-up – particularly given Usman Khawaja will likely be engaged with international duties for much of the summer – while leadership experience is another priority. Morgan, who played four matches for the Thunder in BBL|04, ticks all those boxes.

Chris Gayle not banned from Big Bash: CA

Cricket Australia has confirmed it would not prevent any KFC Big Bash League club from signing West Indies opener Chris Gayle for the 2016-17 BBL|06 season.
Gayle caused outrage in January following his infamous 'Don't blush baby' boundary-line interview with reporter Mel McLaughlin during his spell with the Melbourne Renegades. Gayle was fined $10,000 for his awkward advances to McLaughlin on national television and his comments were roundly condemned by CA chief executive James Sutherland. Sutherland said Gayle's comments could be construed as workplace harassment, and a CA spokesman said the organisation stood by its condemnation of his behaviour in the interview.
"It's not a nightclub, and I think one of the things that perhaps hasn't dawned on everyone is it's actually a workplace," Sutherland said in the wake of the incident.
"Those sort of comments border on harassment. Anyone that sees the humour in that is misunderstanding and somewhat delusional about the situation. "It's a workplace situation, it's inappropriate and it's very, very public. That just goes to the point about how inappropriate and just not cool that is."
Gayle this week took to social media to announce he had named his newborn daughter 'Blush'. However, the link between the January sexism scandal and the name lead many to believe Gayle was playing a sick joke, and local media reported his partner Natasha Berridge had in fact given birth to a son.

James Faulkner Credits BBL for his Success .

It was not a popular decision at the time but James Faulkner believes his decision to sign with the Melbourne Stars was the "best move of my career".

Faulkner is now one of the first picked in Australia's limited-overs teams, but five years ago the uncapped 21-year-old Tasmanian allrounder bravely picked up his bags and left for Melbourne to pursue higher honours.

The move paid immediate dividends; Faulkner finished the first KFC Big Bash League season as the Stars' leading wicket-taker.

Eleven days later he made his debut for Australia in a T20 international against India in Sydney.

"Without doubt, it definitely fast-tracked my skills and then the rest took care of itself when it came to selection," Faulkner told cricket.com.au in Chandigarh.

"Everyone wants to play for Australia. For me, looking back at it now it's definitely the best move of my career.

"I've still got a fair few years there left as well so we'll see how that plays out."

Faulkner is the youngest of the seven overseas players on the Gujarat roster, but has already played 126 T20s with eight teams, stretching from Australia to England and the subcontinent.

It's that reason why Faulkner has taken on extra leadership responsibilities under Lions head coach Brad Hodge this season.

"Anyone that plays international cricket you've got to be a senior player in any T20 team you're playing in around the world," he said.

"Whether it's County Cricket, whether it's IPL, Caribbean Premier League – I haven't played in that – but in any of those tournaments, once you've played on the international stage you're expected to help other players in your team.

"You find the best players around the world do that. They definitely get everyone involved in the team because you are there for one focus – that's to win."

With extra responsibility comes extra pressure, but Faulkner knows how to handle the expectation of an international cricketer.

"When you initially start playing, you do (feel extra pressure)," he said.

"But now that's just life, that's my role. You have enough press around the world whether you're playing well or not playing well.

"At the end of the day you just control what you do with the bat and ball."
